Final Deliverables

NSHE Student Technology Optimization Project

Summary

This engagement produced a strategic and tactical plan to guide the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) through its next phase of technological evolution. The following documents provide a comprehensive vision for the future and a clear, actionable roadmap for optimizing the student and staff experience.

Core Deliverables

This section contains the primary deliverable outlined in the project's scope of work.

NSHE SIS Optimization Roadmap

This comprehensive document serves as the central deliverable for the engagement. It provides a strategic, multi-year plan for technology transformation at NSHE, rooted in insights gathered from ThinkSpace sessions with technology and business leaders across participating institutions.

The roadmap includes:

  • A P3S2 Friction Point Analysis identifying the root causes of current challenges across Policy, Procedure, People, System, and Structure.

  • An in-depth Post-SIS Era Vendor Scan that evaluates the strengths and future-readiness of major student information systems, including Workday, Ellucian Banner, and Oracle Student Cloud, against NSHE's incumbent PeopleSoft system.

  • A Dual-Track Action Plan with specific, high-impact recommendations to both optimize the current PeopleSoft system for immediate "quick wins" and launch AI readiness initiatives to prepare for the future.

Bonus Deliverables

The following resource was provided as a value-add to further support NSHE’s long-term strategic planning beyond the initial project scope.

AI Implementation Readiness Roadmap

This practical, step-by-step playbook is designed to help any higher education institution harness artificial intelligence responsibly, strategically, and effectively. It provides a clear path for moving from initial experimentation to true transformation.

Key features of this guide include:

  • A 7-Step Implementation Timeline that guides leaders through the entire process, from conducting an initial discovery audit to establishing governance, defining strategy, building infrastructure, and fostering campus-wide competency.

  • A dedicated President's Action Plan with specific guidance for executive sponsors on how to lead the AI transformation, anchor it in the institutional mission, and communicate the vision to all stakeholders.

  • A framework for establishing Innovation Labs and Hackathons to create a campus culture of experimentation and surface real-world problems that AI can help solve.
